The usual Bruh-ha-ha over Kanye's new video is for "All of the Lights" has naturally occurred. The standard, 'Man this video is the TITS', 'I wanna buy some skinny leather pants even if my knots don't fit' or 'Rihanna is Banginnn as a red head how did droopy faced Drake hit that' conversation has ensued.
I enjoy the video, and particularly all of the lights in the intro. This particular intro consequently is surprisingly what has the internet going nuts. The above clip is not from the "All of the Lights" video but instead the Opening Credits from a film entitled "Enter the Void". Unfortunately due to copyright Yezzy's video is not publishable.
Here is the link to the video- Kanye West - All Of The Lights ft. Rihanna, Kid Cudi
Now you're probably thinking wait a minute, is West not ripping off the opening credits to "Enter the Void"? In short, yes he absolutely is, BUT I see no problem with this. Homage is being paid and they say that the best form of flattery is imitation. We would have to be naive to believe everything we see from our icons is original. Inspiration occurs everyday and imitating your inspiration demonstrates the amount of respect you have for their work. This is not the first time Kanye has successfully borrowed something and put his own unique spin on it.
Take for example the critically acclaimed and revered Air Yeezy. It would be impossible to deny the fact that the Sole of the Shoe is taken directly from the Jordan III or that the upper is borrowed heavily in its shape from the Jordan V. Yeezy himself has never denied this and has in fact embraced the inspirations for the shoe. Although he has been catching heat like Lebron when he moved to South Beach, I see it this way; Would Noe's video be reaching as wide an audience as it currently is without the help of West? NOPE!
