Colt Cabana Works Smackdown Dark Match

Colt Cabana has worked in a dark match before tonight's NXT/Smackdown tapings. He wrestled against Wade Barrett, which Barrett won. He was announced as Colt Cabana, and there was an audible chant for him after the match was over.

I honestly don't want to read too much into this at all. I don't want to get my hopes up. Conversely, COLT CABANA WORKED A MATCH AT A REAL LIVE WWE EVENT AS COLT CABANA! Holy shit, this is exciting, even if we don't know what exactly is going to come from it. Hopefully, something comes out of this, because Colt on a WWE TV show would be a win, especially if the winds of change really are blowing.

CM Punk Showed up at AAW Tonight

Yeah, so AAW ran a show in Berwyn, IL tonight and guess who showed up? Yep, CM Punk. He cut a promo on WWE, but the picture specified that he didn't bring the belt with him.

As more comes out, I'll have it, although it'll probably come in the Weekend Wrap-Up.

Amasis to Retire

I only planned on writing one Chikara-related entry today. With this news that has just broken, I wish I only had to write the one I was already working on.

Per Sugar Dunkerton's Twitter

Amasis, one-third of the Osirian Portal, apparently has to retire from pro wrestling. The breaking news was just relayed by his fed-mate, Sugar Dunkerton, who Tweeted a few distressing and cryptic messages about Amasis. I replied to him to see what was up, and this was his general response, since I assume I wasn't the only one:

Long story short; Amasis has to retire. Even shorter story, it sucks.

He's right, it really does suck. Hardcore.

For those who don't know, Amasis suffered injuries in a "non-wrestling" accident back in May. I never got the full extent of those injuries, mainly because they were never released. Whatever they were, they apparently are causing him to hang up the boots.

ETA: TWB and Chikara superfan and Chikarmy member Adam Arthur says he got a Chikarmy newsletter stating Amasis' injuries were from a car accident.

Anyway, my heart goes out to Amasis, to the rest of the Portal and the Chikara roster, and hopefully, whatever injuries he suffered a month or so ago aren't serious enough that they effect his quality of life going forward. We're pulling for you, Amasis. The fact that you can't lace up the boots anymore is irrelevant, at least to me. Just get healthy.

BIG Shake-up to PWG All-Star Weekend Night One

Mr. Wrestling pulling double duty tonight

No sooner do I get done writing my preview and pimping Shelley/Ki and Tozawa/Edwards as must-see matches than this happens. Low Ki will miss Night One of All-Star Weekend 8 due to an undisclosed family emergency. Therefore, two new matches have been made in the fall out. The first one will pit Alex Shelley against Eddie Edwards in a match featuring one-half of each of the best tag teams in the world today (even if the American Wolves are going through bit of a marital spat in ROH right now).

The second match is one that will rekindle the hottest feud in all professional wrestling from 2010 as El Generico will team with Ricochet, the guy he was scheduled to face originally, against Akira Tozawa and Kevin Steen. Whoa. Talk about making the best of a bad situation. Steen was originally slated to face Willie Mack tonight. Okay, so whither Mack? Well, actually, the Steen/Mack match isn't going anywhere. Yep, Kevin Steen will wrestle twice tonight. Now I'm really jealous.

Anyway, here's hoping that Ki's family troubles aren't so serious and that they get resolved as beneficially for him as possible.
